About Ken & Mary
A little about Ken…
Ken comes from a large Christian family in Central California, growing up on a farm where each child had chores to accomplish — as well as the requirement to practice the piano (which he strongly resisted as a child, but now is so grateful!) He met and married his wife Mary when both were students at Biola University. They had committed their lives to serve in missions wherever God might lead.
Educationally, Ken graduated (B.A.) from Biola University. Later, he received his M.Div. and D.Min. from Talbot Seminary for Marriage and Family with an emphasis on Missions.
In areas of ministry, Ken (along with Mary) served with CAM International (Central American Mission) from 1969 – 1985, leading Practical Missionary Training summer teams in Central America and Mexico. He also managed mission responsibilities as Director of New Personnel. Through these years, many young adults responded to God’s leading into ministries in many parts of the world.
From 1985 – 2020, the Royers served with Link Care Center in Fresno, where Ken provided pastoral counseling and Mary provided clinical counseling. In his pastoral counseling approach, Ken provides Biblical and pastoral counsel to help people be as effective as possible. Areas of focus include spiritual enrichment, marital issues, depression, spiritual warfare, identity in Christ, conflict resolution and parent-child relationships.
Through the years at Link Care, approximately 5,000 missionaries, pastors and their families have received help through the team of pastoral and clinical counselors. Close to 2/3 – 3/4 have been able to return to their fields of service.
A little about Mary…
Mary grew up in the Los Angeles area. She trusted Christ as Savior in her childhood, following a youth roller-skating event. Educationally, she received her B.A. from Biola University where she met and married her husband Ken. She completed her Master’s Degree (M.S.) at California State University, Fresno.

From 1969 – 1985, Mary’s serving with CAM International consisted of primarily working with young adults desirous of serving the Lord in missions. For the majority of 17 summers they led on-the-field Practical Missionary Training programs in Central America and Mexico. Of the 500+ young adults having gone through a variety of programs during these years, many are currently serving around the world in a variety of ministries.
In her 20+ years of counseling ministry at Link Care, Mary worked from a strong Christian commitment and utilized a systems approach, encouraging her clients to look at their problems and solutions in the context of relationships, seeking to be as effective as possible. Her counseling experiences included working with individuals, groups, families and women’s groups. Specific areas of expertise included self-esteem and identity concerns. In addition, she worked with issues of anxiety, and was able to utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She also addressed issues of marriage, missionary acculturation, re-entry and grief and loss.
In the Royers’ desire for “active retirement” following 50+ years in ministry, they have been invited to join JARON Ministries International. As God continues to grant good health and open doors, they have a strong desire to encourage all to become more Christ-like and to fulfill God’s leading in their lives.

Please pray for family members grieving the recent death of our nephew (on Mary’s side of the family) Rick Cochran, age 59, due to cancer. We are grateful that he did affirm Christ as Savior.
