About Gil & Carol
Gil is a Missionary Pastor and Evangelist with 30 years of pastoral experience in church-planting and equipping ministries in 20 nations on 4 continents. Gil & Carol have 4 children, 3 grandchildren and have been married since 1972.
Gil was raised with a Mennonite Christian heritage and trusted his life to Jesus Christ as a young boy at Kingwood Bible Church in Salem, Oregon. Gil graduated from Salem Academy, attended Oregon State University, Portland State University, graduated from Multnomah University (ThB) and later studied under Dr. Don Smith in the Mission’s Masters Program at Western Baptist Seminary.
After serving at Greater Portland Bible Church for 11 years, in 1991, Gil established the PrayEastCounty Pastor’s Coalition in East Portland, Oregon where he is still active. World mission involvement for Gil during the 1980’s was Latin America. In the 1990’s it was Eastern Europe and Russia. Since 2002, Africa has been his main missionary focus. Currently, Gil travels internationally planting churches and bible schools, and conducting evangelistic and Bible Training Conferences with Pastors and Christian leaders. The areas Gil is primarily reaching include Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Tanzania, Congo and Rift Valley.

Please pray for wisdom, protection and godly developement for our leaders and missionaries out on the field. Please also pray for family health through the challenges our missionaries are facing every day.

We are in the process of purchasing a small plot with a large house for our Africa Hope Center in South Kenya. Please pray for continued freedom and open doors to declare God’s glory and bring Africa Hope in Jesus Name. Pray also for the healing of all nations from this pestilence and the lifting of all travel bans locally and internationally which are choking communications, economies, and hope. Pray that this Gospel of the Kingdom may be preached to all nations, for then the end shall come together with our King of Kings (Matthew 24:14).

– Purchase 20 “Proclaimers” ~ Audio Solar Bibles in Tribal Languages
– Purchase of 100 Swahili Bibles & 100 Evangecubes
– Rebuild our Africa Hope Center fences (Termites) ~ With cement posts!
– Build flood waters retaining wall on the South side of our property.
– Rebuild our Baptistry ~ Finally wore out ~ John the Baptist would be pleased!
– Purchase “Beautiful Gates” home for Africa Hope Center headquarters.
– Rebuild kitchen and help with new fuel source for Gil Harder Academy.

We are delighted to report that inspite of and actually because of 2020 sufferings, the Gospel has gone out farther and farther. Not only have our students, pastors, and teachers reached out farther, but our schools and churches have remained open and active.

We praise God for many who are trusting Christ this year though the Africa Hope Church & School outreaches in their villages and communities.
Praise the Lord for the 50 new believers who were baptized toward the end of 2020 at the Gil Harder Academy and Kitengela Church.
Praise our Savior for the “Magnificent 7” young men who came to Christ at the Africa Hope Center two years ago when we dug the baptisty, and who are now growing in discipleship and love with Jesus.
Praise our Master for choosing our Africa Hope Director Aggrey Juma and his wife Linet and family to serve the Lord with gladness with a vision of Psalm 84 and “Pools of Healing” and Africa Hope in Jesus Name.
Praise our King for saving and sending to us our faithful Africa Hope Center Property Manager.
Praise God for sending us more missionaries to “Teach & Reach” out with us at Africa Hope.
Praise our Creator for giving Joshua & Rebeca the gift of a new born son, Oct. 15, 2020!
Praise our Heavenly Father for the completion of our “Water Tower” at the Africa Hope Center in Amboseli and that the water of life is now flowing!
Praise our King for the provision and purchase of two adjoining acres at the Africa Hope Center.
Praise Jesus for James & Choice, their family, and the Church and Africa Hope Academy in North Coast Kenya which you have established and protect.
Praise the Lord for all of the Churches, Faithful Friends, Prayer Partners, and Supporters of Africa Hope Ministries who pray, give, and go by faith together with us to the ends of the earth to fulfill the Great Commission!
Praise God for Caroline Sarah and the “House of Hope” ministry to Widows & Orphans in Kenya.
